ESD Update and Reminders for Elementary Families….
On the first day of school, September 7th 2022-23, Ellensburg School District is excited to be expanding to four elementary schools! We appreciate your patience as we implement changes that support Ellensburg’s continued growth along with new attendance zone boundaries.
For Families Who Requested Inter-District Transfer Requests
ESD received over 200 hundred inter-district transfer requests from families this Spring. We acknowledge that district growth and new facilities can add some stress and challenges for families. As we administratively work through the ESD inter-district transfer process, (following the process outlined at the February 23rd Board meeting), it has been ESD’s priority to maintain building capacity levels to assure a quality learning environment for all children. Principals, District leadership and the Elementary Placement Team are in the process of considering and prioritizing these requests. We recognize that with the large number of requests submitted, it will be unlikely that ESD will be able to accommodate the majority of these requests.
As out of district and in-district (new kindergarten and students moving into the district) enrollment applications continue to be submitted this summer, class sizes are still being analyzed. Elementary families, who submitted a transfer request by the May 18th deadline, can expect to be notified about your child’s school building placement via email or text on August 19, 2022.
For All Families
Notification of your child’s classroom teacher will be sent to ALL families on August 26, 2022.
All families who need transportation services (within your designated school zone) will need to communicate with the transportation department through the following:
Call 509-925-8100 (press #0) to request bus routing, or
go to https://forms.gle/NE5big7hDsGGQon16 to complete the simple electronic form. (this form is also available on the very bottom of the ESD401.org transportation page)
If you are planning on having the ESD transport your child directly to / from childcare, you must choose a provider that is located within your designated school attendance boundary or find alternate transportation for your child. (see map) ESD has also secured an option for families needing before and after school care with Right at School. For more information and to sign up for Right at School, go to https://www.rightatschool.com/districts/ellensburg-wa/
ESD is confident that our newly constructed state-of-the-art school buildings and boundaries will bring stability and equity to ALL students in our district. We are proud of the work ESD has done to progressively improve our facilities and maintain educational fidelity across our district.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate changes relating to our community growth. We look forward to the start of a great school year! If you have questions after the August 19th notification, please contact your designated school.
