News from the Principal

October 2018

Dear Students, Parents and Community,

Ellensburg High School is off to a great start. As principal, I would like to thank the community and parent groups for all of the support provided to our school. This summer our custodial crew and maintenance staff did a great job of getting the school ready for students and staff. We continue to expand our educational opportunities for students. This year will be the first year we are offering Computer Science courses and a Geometry in Construction course.

This year, as a staff, one of our focused is on school accreditation. Accreditation is a process to reflect on what we do well and what we need to focus on to improve our school. This will be our school improvement plan for the next few years.

Also, in an effort to improve student attendance, new attendance standards have been established. Students who exceed 15 absences in a class may be subject to the loss of credit for the class. There is an appeal process for students and parents.

New staff at Ellensburg High School include Lisa Berthon (Counselor), Savannah Carlson (Alternate Ed), Christina Moorman (Special Services), Tiffany Price (Computer Science), Robert Rutherford (Band), Donovan Smith (Math), Amy Sutherland (English/History), Eric Wickwire (English/History). This group of new teachers has been a positive addition to our staff.

Again, thank you for all the continued support!
