It is the belief of the Ellensburg School District that athletic programs are an essential educational opportunity for students. The desire to play is fundamental and finds its highest expression in the wholesome and well conceived athletic programs.

November, 2019 Athletics Update
There is A LOT to celebrate in the world of EHS athletics!! Please see the following list of highlights:

Cross Country, Combined 3.758 Varsity GPA:
Our girls cross country team won the State 2A girls Championship this past weekend at Sun Willows Golf Course. Leah Holmgren was the first place finisher and Kate Laurent was the 4th place finisher.

Our boys had a great weekend as well! This year's team finished in third place overall, led by Patrick Adkisson in 9th place. This is the highest any boys cross country team has ever finished at EHS!

Jeff Hashimoto was selected as both Boys and Girls Coach of the year for the entire CWAC. The following students were selected to the all-conference team:
1st Team Boys: Patrick Adkisson, Isak Larson, Baylen Bean
2nd Team Boys: Reese Braman, Gabe Fjellstad
1st Team Girls: Leah Holmgren (Runner of the Year), Kate Laurent
2nd Team Girls: Rylee Leishman, Madison Thompson

Soccer, 3.707 GPA:
Our girls are competing in the first round of state tomorrow at White River HS at 6pm. We have had a number of all league girls and a player of the year! Our girls finished 2nd in league and 2nd in districts.
First Team: Cynthia Johnson, Allie Brown, Maddy Snow, Blake Johnson
Second Team: Kaelynn Smith Honorable Mention: Quinn Rogel, Kami Hartrick

Football, 3.074 Varsity GPA:
Our football team's record is not indicative of the success we have seen! Our boys are gearing up to play in the first round of state this Saturday at Battle Ground HS at 3pm. We had a number of all league selections and a coach of the year nod:
First Team: Tate Morris, Dion Hardeman, Bryce Messner, Brenden Swanson, Preston Oldham, Wyatt Nelson, Logan Mallick
Second Team: Grady Becker, Ryan Ferguson, Nolan Meyer, Elijah Harper, Henry Rinehart
Coach of the year: Jeff Zenisek

Volleyball, 3.642 Varsity GPA:
Our girls have had an outstanding season and have won the league title for the 4th year in a row, and the district title for the 5th year in a row. They play in the 2A State Championships this weekend at CWU with their first game at 8am Friday. This year's all-league selections are:
Player of the Year: Shauny Fisk First team: Reaghan Naboychik, Abby Harrell
Second Team: Payton Lyyski, Leah Stueckle
Honorable Mention: Grace Oldham

Swim, 3.642 Varsity GPA:
Our girls swimmers are taking yet another trip to the state swim and dive championships this weekend. We have had a number of girls set personal records this year and many are hoping to bring home some hardware from state. EHS Students Molly Gage, Sadie Hartrick, Christine Nale, Lorin Seamons, Emily Holt, and Shaedyn Weber are headed to Federal Way to represent EHS in the State Championships!

This is the second year in a row that all of our fall teams have made the state bracket. Turnout continues to rise, and successes are continually achieved, and this fall sports season isn't yet over! We had approximately 499 students turnout for fall sports at EHS and MMS combined.
